Symposium Célébration Picasso

2023 marked the fiftieth anniversary of Pablo Picasso's death, and the year was dedicated to celebrating his work through some fifty exhibitions and events, as well as scientific and educational projects, in Europe and the United States.
To conclude this year of celebration, the Musée national Picasso-Paris organized, in partnership with UNESCO, a major symposium on December 7 and 8, 2023 in Paris.
The symposium was held in the historic building that houses the headquarters of the International Organization for the Defense of Peace in Education, Science and Culture, and whose architects had commissioned Picasso to create a large-scale mural inaugurated in 1958: La Chute d'Icare (The Fall of Icarus).
Over the course of two days, punctuated by meetings, round-table discussions, lectures, events and exhibition visits, the symposium brought together all the Celebration's partners - institutions, curators, researchers and artists - to discuss the topics covered by the event.
